Located in Sarasota, known as Florida’s cultural coast, McCurdy's is one of a kind among the hundreds of area attractions and dozens of theatres and performance arts halls. It’s unique because it is a comedy only forum – it has built its business around all types of comedy talent from amateur performers to renowned stars, all taking to the stage to offer laughs in the most authentic form. Even though McCurdy’s showcases big names like Bobcat Goldthwait, Tommy Chong, Chris Rock, Jeff Foxworthy and Aisha Tyler, among literally hundreds of others, the theatre has retained its small-stage charm and intimacy. The venue prides itself on the exceptional visual and audio experience it delivers to an audience of locals, business travelers and vacationers alike. Although the comedy theatre is known for hosting performances for its audiences, McCurdy’s also encourages the public to tap into their own comedic side. Visitors to the site can catch up on their favorite comics, and familiarize themselves with new talent by viewing the zany photos and bios of all of the comedians. Including theatre rules, show content rating, food & drink menus, seating chart, directions, etc.
Much of the Web site’s content is transitory, so GravityFree equipped McCurdy’s with a content management tool. This allows the McCurdy's staff to edit and update the content on their site. They have the ability to administer information requests, manage the database of comedian profiles, add or edit upcoming events, cancel shows and more. This tool significantly decreases operational overhead, and eliminates the hourly charges usually associated with updating a Web site. “It provides instant gratification; modifying, reorganizing, adding or deleting content within seconds, not hours. This is invaluable to the business of the Theatre,” says Les McCurdy. “We needed a Web site that would have the capacity to support all of our content and content changes, and of course it had to look good too.”
